Jobless claims continue to show little improvement. Initial claims for unemployment came in at 386,000 last week, down 6,000 from the previous week (which was revised upward by 5,000).

The less volatile 4-week moving average fell just 750 to 386,750. This remains near the highest level of the year.

While somewhat disappointing, these numbers still are not terrible. They continue to point to "Muddle Through Growth" for the U.S. economy.

Unfortunately this isn't enough of a catalyst to get investors' attention off of the sovereign debt crisis in Europe.
